This week, wednesday, a film about Edith Piaf 's life will be on the screens. Edith Piaf was a famous French singer known in particular for her song La vie en rose (the life in pink) Here, one sees the sugar factory Beghin Say. Like the sky, it sees the life in blue.
Do you know Le Corbusier ? It's a famous French architect of the 20th century. Its concept : a building in which one finds all (trade, school...) Here, its realisation : la Cité radieuse ( the radiant city).
I would have been able to choose this photo by february 1st because I don't like this tower (Tour de Bretagne). But, it's a part of Nantes, it's like that ! Today, there is of the fog then it's more discreet.
Before this building sheltered the offices of compagny EDF GDF, supplier of electricity and gas in France. Then, when the offices were installed in periphery, it was planned to destroy this place. Fortunately, it was saved and restored. Today, one can find in this building, a gymnasium, a supermarket, a restaurant and an appendix of the hospital.
Yesterday, I went to Saint Nazaire, a town by the sea, near Nantes. Saint Nazaire is not a beautiful city because it was destroyed during tne second war. It is especially known for its shipyards. It's to Saint Nazaire that are built the big passenger ships as the Queen Mary.
This is a vestige of the old castle of Nantes (10th century). Indeed, with the 14th century, a new castle was built. The next week, I will show it to you. After years of work, it's again opened from february 9. But patience !
