Before this building sheltered the offices of compagny EDF GDF,
supplier of electricity and gas in France. Then, when the offices
were installed in periphery, it was planned to destroy this place.
Fortunately, it was saved and restored. Today, one can find in this
building, a gymnasium, a supermarket, a restaurant and an appendix
of the hospital.

Yesterday, I went to Saint Nazaire, a town by the sea, near Nantes.
Saint Nazaire is not a beautiful city because it was destroyed
during tne second war. It is especially known for its shipyards.
It's to Saint Nazaire that are built the big passenger ships as the Queen Mary.

This is a vestige of the old castle of Nantes (10th century).
Indeed, with the 14th century, a new castle was built.
The next week, I will show it to you.
After years of work, it's again opened from february 9.
But patience !

In the south of the Loire, there is the Nantes vineyard.
One produced the muscadet wine (white wine).
I like these two columns which open in tne vine.
I photograph them regularly.
They erode but I cannot imagine that they break down...

In 2000, Nantes inaugured its new Law courts.

This building was thought by the architecte Jean Nouvel

to symbolize the justice of today.

It would seem that the young people have a problem with alcohol.

In XVIII th century, Nantes is the first colonial port. It's necessary to imagine its ships of retour of the "isles" charged with spices, coffee, sugar, cotton. The richest ship-owners make build buildings on the "Ile Feydeau", noble frontages with mascarons.
